CATHEDRAL OF PRAISE WORSHIP CENTER, INC.
An Innovation in History
In August 1957, the unfolding of the “Late” Overseer Myrtle D. Francis’, affectionately known as “Mother Francis”, vision began with the formation of a “tent revival” where many souls were saved. The Lord expanded the focus of her ministry, from world-wide evangelist to a devoted and caring Pastor. From this tent ministry evolved the original church which was named Fire Baptized Holiness Church. It was subsequently changed to the Royal Assembly Church #2, as the Lord directed her to join the Royal Assembly Church of the Living God, Inc. After being a part of that organization for many years, she became Overseer of her own work, thereby changing the name to the Universal Pentecostal Church. Today, we know this ministry as the Cathedral of Praise Worship Center, for God has declared that this ministry shall be a house of praise and worship. As well as being a profound and anointed preacher of God’s Word, Mother Francis was also a builder of God’s house. This ministry built its first edifice at 278 N.E. 35th Court, Oakland Park, Florida, and twenty-three (23) years later it’s second site located at 4035 SW 18th Street, Hollywood, Florida.
God came no shorter than his promise, and for our diligence in kingdom building, He has continually blessed and favored this ministry. As Elijah had passed the mantle on to Elisha, and as David had passed the charge on to his son Solomon, upon Mother Francis’ transition to be with the Lord, the charge for ministry and the pastoral mantle was passed to her daughter, God’s anointed and chosen vessel, Bishop Betty J. Francis. Bishop Francis has worked diligently in carrying on the legacy. She has strategically led God’s people in achieving some of the goals Mother Francis did not live to see accomplished.
Our vision which is in line with the mission statement of the ministry provides for:
-
further development of the “Mother Francis Memorial Outreach Center”, which is housed at the location of our first building in Oakland Park.It is through this center that we will continue to build upon the foundation laid by our founder, Mother Myrtle Francis, to become as our motto states; “A Church Touching the Community!”,
-
continued growth of the “Mother Myrtle D. Francis Memorial Scholarship Fund”, inclusive of the natural and spiritual education and advancement of our youth,
-
development and establishment of the "Cathedral School of Ministry & Bible College",
-
continuance of the “Mother Myrtle D. Francis Humanitarian Award”, which acknowledges significant contributions by an individual to the welfare of a community, which are considered outstanding in every aspect. The recipient(s) must demonstrate the commitment, dedication and passion of the honoree, the "Late" Mother Myrtle D. Francis to service the holistic needs of man; both spiritual and natural, and
-
expanding the outreach ministry to include providing food, clothing and spiritual nourishment to the underserved; as well as provide services that cover matters that the community deals with on a daily basis, i.e. abuse, women issues, education concerns, job placement, substance abuse/addiction, etc..
From the birth of this ministry until this present time, one of the most prevalent biblical precepts taught and instilled in the minds and hearts of the members is simply “God is Able!”, for here we are after more than a half-century later blessing the God of our salvation and acknowledging that we are yet, “Walking in God’s Favor!”. “Just, Look Where the Lord Has Brought Us From!”
“So built we the wall; and the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.” Nehemiah 4:6 [KJV]
